MARCET contributes to the investment priorities set out in the smart specialization strategies of the 3 ERDF regions. In a direct way, it contributes to the socio-economic evaluation of maritime-marine sciences R&D (The Canary Islands), the fostering of collaborative relationships and the promotion of innovative sea-related activities (Azores) and the sustainable exploitation of marine resources and technologies (Madeira).

Likewise, the direct application of marine sciences and technologies to cetacean sighting companies contributes to the improvement of competitiveness and diversification of the specialized tourism product of the three regions, with a direct focus on enhancing and protecting their biodiversity and sustainable growth.

Finally, the integration into MARCET of advanced knowledge and experts in the most cutting-edge ICTs will contribute to the digital growth of Macaronesian marine sciences and specialized tourism.
