CICS.UAc is a decentralized unit of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Sciences of the University Nova of Lisbon dedicated to the development of scientific research, education, cultural extension and community service, in an intended interdisciplinary way.
Through the collaboration with the Regional and National governments and other CICS´s units, it develops its activity in the evaluation and definition of public policies, in the diagnosis of social problems and in the characterization of the social categories and groups aimed by those policies. Thus, besides playing a prominent role in the design and evaluation of impacts it also has one in the transfer of knowledge in areas such as employment, education, social protection, policies designed for the youth, problems associated with at-risk children and youth, gender inequalities and domestic violence, migrations, cultural consumption, fishing communities, among others.
