  • Research domains

It is crucial to understand the diversification of tropical plants within the pool
of species for biodiversity. Conservation, management and the utilisation of
plants are major challenges in sustainable development.

The ADvENS team is based in the DIADE research unit and works on research
topics by studying changes to the genomes and transcriptomes in tropical
trees, in relation to environmental constraints, adaptive divergence and
methods to regulate specialised metabolisms. Wild and domesticated coffee
    plants are used as references.

The team also works to preserve biodiversity and manages the Biological Resource Centre for wild coffea plant species in Saint Pierre (La Réunion) at the Bassin Martin experimental station (http://florilege.arcadproject.org/fr/collections/collection-coffea)

    Areas of expertise
    -Tropical plants genomic research
-Biology and metabolism of tropical seeds
    -Cryopreservation of tropical seeds

  • key research projects

    CAFEDIV
Characterization and valorisation of an endemic species in Reunion : caféier marron (Coffea mauritiana Lam).
Funding : ERDF (EU, Region, French govt.), measure 1.02 (observation and
    promotion of biodiversity)
    2017 – 2020

    COFFEESEEDNET
Genome study seed sensitivity to dessication
    Funding : EMBO IRD

    MATURA
Functional plasticity associated with polyploidy. Genome study of the ripening process in an amphipolyploid plant species (Coffea arabica).
    Funding : IRD
    2018 – 2020
