Satellite-Assisted Environmental Monitoring of the Indian Ocean

The SEAS-OI research centre is an operational facility for data-reception,and a remote-sensing centre of expertise, conducting research activities,and providing support for operational users.

SEAS-OI is a partnership between : the French government, Reunion Regional Council, French National Research Institute for Development, University of Reunion Island.

    Over 70 public partners in the Indian Ocean area use the satellite data from the SEAS-OI programme.

    Over 2,300 images have been distributed in support of 90 projects.

    A number of international programmes and projects, such as RISQUE, MESA, SMART FISH and ISLANDS by the Indian Ocean Commission.

    Two regional cooperation programmes with Madagascar in 2013-2015 :
    ORTHOBASE (reference map) and GRIMA (Flood Risk and Landslide Management in Antananarivo).
