Our partner Conseil Départemental de Mayotte (CDM) is organizing a series of training on Horizon Europe as planned in WP4 of the FORWARD project.

On the 7th and the 14th of February, CDM will be holding two sessions on how to participate in European collaborative research projects in Horizon Europe and integrate the right networks.

The event will be held in French.

The Regional Fund for Science and Technology (FRCT), promotes, on February 11th, at 09:00 am (AZOT), on the digital platform Teams, the WP4 capacity building action “Strategic Management of Partnerships: from Networking to Excellence”, under the European project FORWARD.

This capacity-building action, directed to the Regional Ecosystem of Research & Innovation (R&I), aims to train the actors of the regional ecosystem in the use of new instruments and funding tools of the new Horizon Europe Framework Programme.

Registration for the training action is free of charge but compulsory. Register here until February 9th.

This action will be in Portuguese.

The Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC) organizes a new edition of this virtual training in ‘Open Calls‘. This action is part of the FORWARD project (WP4 activities) and has the support of the Enterprise Europe Network of Canary Islands.

The itinerary of the course will start with an open informative session on Thursday, January 27th. The following sessions will have limited capacity and will be linked to a project idea to present to an ‘Open Call’ of interest to the company or organization.

The aim of the course is to raise awareness of this type of financing and to offer companies tools with which to participate in these procedures. Likewise, the contents of the training have been designed to adapt to the reality of Canary Island companies and organizations.

Itinerary:

· Phase 1 – Info session. 27th January.

· Phases 2 and 3 Training and workshop. From 3rd to 17th February.

The previous edition of the capacity building action took place in May/Jun 2021, with great and successful results:

  • 98 people attended the Info Session and 85 participated on the Specific Training on Open calls financing.
  • 22 people attended Virtual Networking session and the Training on How to participate in Open calls financing.
  • 20 R&D+I projects received Individual professional support to opt to Open Calls financing.
  • 10 companies from Canary Islands submitted 5 proposal to an Open Call.
  • 6 companies, 4 proposals, have been granted for value of 370.000 €.
  • The rest of the companies have the knowledge to opt to Open Calls financing, and may submit their proposal in future calls.
  • The granted R&D+I projects are related to the following areas: tourism, waste management, business strategy, and intelligent ports.

Our partner University of Azores (UAc) is organizing a specialized training on EU Framework Programes within WP4 Capacity building activities of FORWARD.

The training will be focused on “Design. Recruit. Build” and will be given by ERINN Innovation Ltd to UAc support staff (project managers) on February, 8th 2022.

This course will give the understanding and tools needed to develop a highly-targeted project design customised towards the call topics. Training will include guidance and tips on call identification and analysis, concept note development, potential impact pathways, consortium design. Strategic effort and attention at this early stage is critical to increase the efficiency of proposal development and is more likely to result in a higher-scoring bid.

On 21st January 2022, our partner CCIA (Chamber of Commerce from Azores) will be implementing its WP4 capacity building action. The session will be held online, in Portuguese, and it will start at 9h30 Azores time.

The activity is aimed at deepening and analysing the ability to innovate in companies through a strategic reinforcement and a closer connection with R&D centres of the local/regional ecosystem.

The main target audience for this capacity building action will be companies and R&D representatives from Azores. The speaker will be Mr. Julio Fernandez-Gayoso Mediero.

Today, on 29th November 2021, sub-coordinators and facilitators of our WP3 Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) have held their last meeting of the year.

The event was intended first of all to discuss the content of the WP4 training for TWG sub-coordinators currently under organisation by Synergile. In addition, WP6 Leader requested to sub-coordinators their contributions and suggestions for Task 6.2-Recommendations for ORs R&I Policies.

During the month of December, dedicated B2B meetings will be scheduled with every TWG facilitator in order to collect more details about each one’s activity for project technical reporting, as well as to assess specific challenges and find common solutions.

Synergîle, Guadeloupe’s innovation hub, organises a webinar on the future of Research and Innovation entitled “Research and Innovation in the ORs: international collaborations and FORWARD solutions” (La Recherche et l’Innovation dans les RUP: collaborations internationales et solutions FORWARD).

The webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, November 30th, 2021 between 15h00 and 17h30 Brussels time on Zoom and Facebook live.

 The objective is to present the tools being developed and tested in the FORWARD and to initiate a long-term reflection on the future of Research and Innovation and the need for strong collaborations in insular areas such as the European Outermost Regions.

 The webinar will be closed by a round table with experts, actors, institutes in charge of Research and Innovation of Guadeloupe, i.e., Region Guadeloupe (FORWARD partner), SARA, University of the Antilles (FORWARD partner), and representatives from SMEs.

Martinique’s WP4 training sessions will begin on 26th November 2021.

The training programme is based on 3 key themes:

  • Presentation of the Horizon Europe and its calls;
  • Applying and monitoring calls for projects;
  • Setting up project networks and consortia.

Our partner University of Azores (UAc) is organising a WP4 capacity building event for their project managers, with the end goal to further support the university’s researchers.

The training will focus on effective writing for winning EU project proposals and will be given by expert consultants at LGI.

The event will take place on 23rd November 2021.
